Chamber Ribbon Cutting for LOHS Medical Clinic
On Monday, June 2nd, the Greene County Chamber of Commerce, along with supporters from the community, gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Lake Oconee Humane Society’s (LOHS) new Medical Clinic and Surgical Suite. This new endeavor creates a significant advancement in the shelter’s ability to care for local pets and address animal overpopulation in the area.
With the recent addition of full-time licensed veterinarian Dr. Andrew Duncan, the clinic now offers services Monday through Friday. Having a veterinarian on staff five days a week allows LOHS to perform spay and neuter procedures on-site, eliminating the need for weekly trips to veterinarians in Atlanta and Athens. This not only reduces operational costs but also makes essential veterinary care more accessible and affordable for families in the Lake Oconee area.
An added benefit is that volunteers’ time can now be dedicated to other essential services at the shelter instead of transporting animals for surgeries. “This clinic makes it easier for families to care for their pets while addressing overpopulation at its source,” shared Diane Robinson, Executive Director of LOHS. Residents can schedule appointments by calling 706-454-1508. To learn more about LOHS services, adoptable pets, and volunteer opportunities, visit www.lohspets.org. Lake Oconee Humane Society extends a special thank you to fellow Chamber members who attended the ribbon cutting to show their support: Dell Law Firm, Greene County Economic Development, and Greene County Food Pantry.
