Greene Chamber Welcomes Upscale Resale
The Greene County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that its newest member, Upscale Resale is now officially a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization named Lake Oconee Upscale Resale, Corp. What began as a grassroots effort to turn donated handbags and jewelry into funds for local food pantries has grown into a beloved community-wide event that brings people together for a meaningful purpose—helping families facing food insecurity in Greene and Putnam Counties. At the heart of Upscale Resale is a simple but powerful mission: 100% of all sales are donated directly to area food pantries. The organization operates entirely through volunteers, with no paid staff and no overhead taken from proceeds.
Upscale Resale is extremely grateful for the generosity of its community sponsors—BankSouth, Assetgrade, and Premier Meetings—whose support helps fund important needs such as licensing and advertising. Their commitment allows the organization to remain focused on its mission of turning community generosity into direct support for local food pantries. The organization also recognizes the continued support of **The Episcopal Church of the Redeemer— where it all began—**for providing dedicated workspace and volunteers, along with The Lake Oconee Lutheran Church, the host location of this event.
This year’s Upscale Resale fundraiser is on Saturday, September 26, at The L.O. Lutheran Church from 10am-12pm, with an exciting addition this year— a Half-Price Sale from 1pm-3pm following the main event. Donations are already being collected, and the success of the fundraiser depends on the generosity of community members donating desirable handbags and jewelry.
“Watching this community come together has been the most rewarding part of this journey,” said Connie Karpinsky, founder of Upscale Resale. “Every donation, every volunteer, and every shopper becomes part of something far greater than themselves—turning compassion into hope for families who need it most.” Convenient donation drop-off locations include Bend the Trend off Linger Longer Rd and 44 Marketplace at Harmony Crossing. For added convenience, volunteers can pick up donations directly from donors. In addition, the nonprofit is collaborating with Second Chance Boutique to collect new clothing, with proceeds supporting both hunger relief efforts and women facing abuse.
